You can do this work-around to avoid development.
Tcode IE05
Give values in the Selection-screen to select all the Equipments where RPM is a characteristic. Then in the output, select all the lines and go to Settings > Show/Hide Classification . Now your RPM column will be appearing with values. Now Filter 
this column with the needed RPM value say 750. Now you will see only those equipments with 750 RPM irrespective of class. Save this layout as '750rpm' and use this in the layout field of IE05 variant named like '750RPM'. Hope you understood. I have checked this, working fine. Revert in case of any doubt.
